Huge congratulations to all those who graduated today with CVQO at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. In particular, we’re celebrating 4 special Londoners who have successfully completed ILM, City & Guilds and Pearson Awards in Leadership and Management, Education and Training and Professional Recognition.
All these graduates are adult volunteers with either the Army Cadet Force, Air Training Corps, Sea Cadets, St John Ambulance or Volunteer Police Cadets. They’ve worked towards these leadership qualifications was also running challenging and fun activities for young people in London.
Richard Salter is the National Duke of Edinburgh Advisor for St John Ambulance. In his day job, he works for the Financial Conduct Authority. His volunteering role in St John Ambulance involves advising on all aspects of the Duke of Edinburgh Award within St John Ambulance. Today he was awarded a City & Guilds Level 5 Professional Recognition Award for demonstrating knowledge and competency in middle management. The award is the equivalent of a Foundation Degree. He said, “It was fantastic to not only represent St John Ambulance today, but also to see the achievements of adult volunteers from other organisations too. I hope to develop the CVQO programme within St John Ambulance so that more of our adult volunteers can achieve at the levels the other organisations are already reaching.”
Pilot Officer Mark McPherson of London Wing RAF Air Cadets was awarded an ILM Level 4 Award in Leadership and Management and was recognised for the most outstanding submission within that category. Staff Sergeant Instructors Peter Bexley and Rebecca Fifoot of South West London Army Cadet Force were awarded an ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management.
