New start for YOU in Merton
Leaders of Merton’s Youth Organisations in Uniform welcomed Clare Whelan OBE to a meeting in Wimbledon Police Station on 17 February. She explained her role as the Lord-Lieutenant’s Representative Deputy Lieutenant in the borough of Merton and said that she was keen to encourage the groups to work together for everyone’s benefit. The meeting hosted by the Volunteer Police Cadets was held to give new energy to YOU in Merton. YOU London Development Worker, Michael Nolan, said, ”There is a great deal going on in this Borough and this has been a very positive meeting. Many of the group leaders already know each other well and I think meeting tonight will give impetus to stronger links and some practical collaboration.” Plans are now in hand to map the borough’s uniformed youth provision and for a possible of a joint Summer event.
